Schloss Wachenheim AG - formerly known as sparkling wine castle Wachenheim AG - is an internationally operating group and one of the world's largest manufacturers of sparkling wine. The company has its headquarters in Trier . There are production sites in Germany (Trier, Wachenheim, Morscheid and Wismar), France , Poland , Romania , the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The company sells its products in more than 80 countries in Europe, North and South America, Africa, Asia and Australia.

The present-day Schloss Wachenheim AG was founded in 1888, but the history of the champagne castle in Wachenheim began in 1341. The Knights of Steinhausser settled on the site of today's sparkling wine and built here a noble residence. In 1725 Baron Johann Georg von Sussmann, Court Counselor of the Elector in Mannheim , acquired the property together with the surrounding vineyards and fields. On the foundations of the former aristocratic residence, he had a castle built in rural Baroque style and a business wing, the so-called Sussmann's yard. In the course of the 19th century, this changed hands several times until the wine merchant Georg Böhm bought the property in the 1880s to build a sparkling wine factory.

After they had acquired the patent for sparkling wine production in Fassgärverfahren by the Stuttgart wine chemist Friedrich Adolf Reihlen in 1886, Georg Böhm's heirs, the brothers Friedrich and Ludwig Böhm, founded in 1888 together with Reihlen and a Stuttgart banking group, the German sparkling wine factory in Wachenheim . Registered in 1892 as "Deutsche Schaumweinfabrik AG, Wachenheim", the company initially operated as "Sektkellerei Wachenheim AG" (1913), before finally the current name "Sektkellerei Schloss Wachenheim AG" was used. This makes the Sekthaus one of the oldest stock companies in Germany.

The most important brands of the group in Germany are:

Faber (sparkling wine, 2007 sale of the billionth bottle, in March 2010 presentation of the new Faber wines)

Castle Wachenheim (sparkling wine)

Robby Bubble (Non-alcoholic children's party drink)

Feist or Feist Belmont (sparkling wine)

Nymphenburg (sparkling wine)

Schwerin Castle Garden (sparkling wine)

Castle Böchingen (sparkling wine)

Small phylloxera (wine-containing cocktail)

Light Live (foaming drink made from non-alcoholic wine)

With Light Live, a non-alcoholic "sparkling wine" was launched in 1988 for the first time . The Sektkellerei Schloss Wachenheim was thus not only a pioneer, but is still the market leader today ; Every year over 7 million bottles of Light Live are drunk.

In 2007, Sektkellerei was awarded first prize for the best company presentation on the Internet (Bundespreis, NEG Website Award). The prize is awarded by the Federal Ministry of Economics, Computerwoche and Handelsblatt.de.

In 2008, the company responded to the growing global demand for non-alcoholic wines and sparkling wines by setting up a modern vacuum distillation plant in Trier.

At the Annual General Meeting 2014, a resolution was passed on the change of the company of Sektkellerei Schloss Wachenheim AG in Schloss Wachenheim AG , the approval amounted to 99.96% of the present share capital. [51] The main reason is the change from a small "sparkling wine factory" to a global corporation. [52]

The company shares are 70.7% owned by Günther Reh AG, Leiwen, the rest is in free float .
