The headquarter of E & J Gallo Winery is situated in California, USA. E. & J. Gallo Winery will remain a family-owned company that will be the leader in the U.S. wine industry and the leading provider of California wines in select markets around the world.
The two brothers started the winery in 1933, following the repeal of Prohibition after years of growing and selling grapes. Ernest and Julio were competing against larger, more established, and better financed companies, including more than 800 wine companies established in California in the first few years after the repeal of Prohibition. The brothers learned the craft of commercial winemaking by reading old, pre-Prohibition pamphlets published by the University of California which they retrieved from the basement of the Modesto Public Library.

Our Wines
ARGIANO
Argiano is one of the oldest winemaking estates in Montalcino with a rich history dating back to the Renaissance. The estate was founded in 1580 and has served as a bastion of winemaking through the centuries, as well as home to noble families and popes. In more contemporary times, Argiano produced one of the first Brunello di Montalcinos, and in 1967, was one of the two founders of the Consorzio di Brunello di Montalcino. Today, Argiano is widely acknowledged as one of the finest producers in the district for crafting Brunello di Montalcino.
ALLEGRINI
With more than six generations of winegrowing tradition, Allegrini is the most-awarded winery in the Veneto and the benchmark for Amarone. The Allegrini family’s innovations in appassimento winemaking have made the estate’s classic Amarone and Valpolicella wines exemplars of excellence, while their emphasis on single vineyard expressions of local grape varieties has drawn renewed interest in the Veneto. Led by CEO Marilisa Allegrini, president of Amarone Families (Famiglie dell’Amarone d’Arte), and winemaker Franco Allegrini, the E & J Gallo Winery continues to marry tradition with innovation, selling wine in over 60 countries worldwide. Poggio al Tesoro is also part of the Allegrini family; it is their pride and joy in the famed Bolgheri region.

Set against the dramatic backdrop of the soaring Dolomites and glimmering Lake Garda, the terroir at these coveted high-altitude vineyards creates a wine with elegant floral notes and bright acidity, while the time-honored practice of drying a portion of the grapes contributes a rich mouthfeel and refined character. Home to wine grapes for more than 500 years, the Maso Canali Estate has cultivated Pinot Grigio since 1893.
