ALPHA ESTATE is located in the Amyndeon appellation of Northwest Greece, known for its cold climate, ideal for producing high-quality wines. Founded by second-generation vinegrower Makis Mavridis and Bordeaux-trained oenologist Angelos Iatridis in 1997, it has now grown with the addition of the 2nd generation of both families, with chemical engineer Emorfili Mavridou and assistant winemaker Angeliki Iatridou.
The estate started with 7 hectares of vineyards, and the winery was completed between 2001 and 2003. By 2005, our first wines were released in the market. Today, ALPHA ESTATE cultivates 220 hectares of privately owned vineyards, growing 16 different varieties and producing nearly 1 million bottles annually.
Our wines, certified vegan and sustainably produced, are sold in Greece and more than 40 countries worldwide.
ALPHA ESTATE recently acquired the iconic Boutari Winery in Santorini, expanding our reach to both the Amyndeon PDO for Xinomavro and the Santorini PDO for Assyrtiko. This acquisition is a testament of our commitment to preserving and evolving Greek winemaking traditions, with a focus on sustainability and innovation.
