Vincenzo Toffoli approached the world of vine cultivation at a young age. Beside his agricultural activity, he worked grafting grape cuttings and then began to get passionate about learning about the different varieties of clones especially the Glera formerly known as Prosecco. Vincenzo married Maria in 1952 and, because of the economic crisis in Italy, they emigrated to England for 12 years, where he worked as gardener. When they returned to Italy Vincenzo acquired a small farm of 5 hectares in Refrontolo in the Province of Treviso, the lively and colourful village where Maria was born. In 1964, he founded the Toffoli Azienda Agricola, the company that still keeps the name today, cultivating the vineyards, raising cows and growing silk worms with the mulberry trees that used to be planted between the vineyards to hold up the rows of vines. The business continues with the same name and has been expanded by Vincenzo and Maria's three sons – Sante, Gabriele and Luciano along with Sante's daughter Francesca and son Umberto.
In addition to the activity of growing vines and making wine, for several years, the company has organized itself to make guided tours in Italian and English language. The visit consists, in addition to the vineyards to the winery where the various processes to obtain the wines up to the bottling are illustrated. After that you pass to the tasting room where usually 5 wines are tasted accompanied by snacks with various cheeses and cold cuts. Generally, a complete visit lasts 1.5 hours and in the end you always taste the Passito di Refrontolo wine which is a typical product of our village.
