We’ve been told for years that old wines are the best wines. It’s true that some wines taste better when well-aged, but when it comes to the health aspects of wine, old wine isn’t as good! Young red wines contain greater tannin levels than any other type of wine. So we present some great wine for 2020.
The 2017 Serafino Goose Island Shiraz comes from Serafino Wines based in McLaren Vale, South Australia. It has a dark red core with a dark red black tinged hue. The nose is lifted with aromas of liquorice, dark plum, and toasty vanilla oak followed by some earth and spice. On the palate, it has a plump juicy feel with liquorice and plum flavors blended with toasty vanilla oak and spice. Slight dry tannins leave a grainy feel on the finish.
The 2017 Family Selection Chardonnay from Eight at the Gate has wonderful notes of oak, white peach, and stonefruit. Its palate is well-balanced with good weight and extended mouth feel. The 2017 Chardonnay from Pegasus Estate Winery is the queen of whites. It shows off vibrant orange blossom citrus and lemon custard notes, followed by the finesse of crisp Golden Delicious apples and ripe Asian pears seamlessly intertwined.
