Sant Wines - Truthful To Their Origin

27/06/2018 On this page you will find information about Sant Wines

Sant Wine’s love of wine tasting has taken them on many adventures throughout California’s beautiful wine countries, each having its distinct beauty and history. This ultimately resulted in their fascination to the history of wine making in California and the influence of its missions bringing the first varietal, the Mission grape. Their mission resulted in the numerous names of cities and counties using San and Santa coming from the root word Sant, used in many languages, meaning good and truth.

Now with so many diverse grape varietals brought in by numerous immigrants and grown in California’s distinct and vast terroirs has created the potential to produce a wine to cater to every appellation and palate. It is Sant Wines mission to create the best wine for a particular microclimate and varietal. It is the infinite combinations that propel their creativity and inspire their mission to make “outstanding” wines that are “truthful” to their origin.

93 Points Gold at San Francisco International Wine Competition!

Sant Wines won Gold (93 Points) and Silver at the 35th annual San Francisco International Wine Competition!!!  Over 4,900 wines tasted from around the world!

Gold (93 Points)  - 2013 Pinot Noir Buena Aventura

Silver - 2013 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills

In 2014 Sant Wines added a third prestigious vineyard from Sta. Rita Hills, named John Sebastiano, which was released later in the spring. This is already tasting exceptional. As usual, it is a small production so they can focus on exceptional quality and creative expression through a personal hands on touch.  So in response to high demand with limited quantity, Sant Wines will be making changes in how their wines are available.  With their Spring 2016 release, they introduced an allocation type membership to ensure their wines can be enjoyed by many, most especially you, their valued patrons. Stay tuned for more details and other releases!

2013 Buena Aventura Pinot Noir Gold Medal / 93 Points San Francisco Intl Wine Competition

2013 Buena Aventura release of Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir is a true blend of the terroir. Opening on the front with stewed black cherry wrapped in dried sage. Mulling spices and cedar box line the outer ends of the savory raspberry filled palate. With a full body this wine lends itself to be camouflaged as a wine from a slightly warmer climate. Bright acidity and subtle vanilla, brought by its barrel aging, combine with white pepper to help carry a long finish. This wine will age well with time, but loves to be opened now!

2013 Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir - 94 Points Wine Enthusiast

This first vintage of our Pinot Noir has the depth and pure elegant expression known from the Sta. Rita Hills Appellation. Being an extremely aromatic wine there is an abundance of strawberry jam aromas upfront flooding into crushed dry rose and slate notes. On the palate are layers of mixed red fruit laden with forest floor that weave beautifully around fresh baked piecrust, integrated tannins and sweet layered oak. The soft balanced mouthfeel combines with refreshing acidity to create great complexity, which allows Sant Wines to be highly approachable and pair great with food. The long finish lingers begging for another sip.

2014 Sauvignon Blanc - Vogelzang Vineyard

Stylish and sophisticated, our 2014 Vogelzang Vineyard, Sauvignon Blanc opens with strong aromatics of tropical fruit (papaya, guava, and pineapple), lemongrass with an almost chalky undertone. The rich, complex aromas of pineapple, passion fruit, and stone fruits dance heavily across the palate with the green herbaceous notes of thyme and an aromatic grassiness blending so gently. Mouthwatering acidity and moderate mouthfeel help the juicy green apple, vibrant lime zest and fresh cut grass carry long into the back end with a gentle minerality carrying the persistent finish.

2014 Buena Aventura Pinot Noir - 92 Points Wine Enthusiast

Our 2014 Buena Aventura release of Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir is an outstanding blend of the terroir. Cola and red-cherry aromas grow more complex with touches of rose, nori wrapper and purple flowers on the nose of this bottling. The mouthfeel is soft and the flavors are broad, with candied red cherry, rose petals and an elegant hibiscus-thyme tension, like an herb-laced fruit punch.
