New Tasting Director Appointed at Wine Enthusiast Magazine

24/09/2018 World’s Top Tasting Magazine Continues to Expand the Team and Reach

Wine Enthusiast magazine has announced the promotion of Alexander Peartree to the role of Tasting Director. Previously the Tasting Manager, Peartree worked closely with former Tasting Director Lauren Buzzeo, who was in the role for more than six years. Buzzeo, as Managing Editor, will now be focusing solely on orchestrating print production and creative development of Wine Enthusiast magazine.

“Alex has proven to be a key member of the Tasting and Editorial teams in his years with Wine Enthusiast and we’re excited to see where he’ll take the tasting program next,” says Executive Editor Susan Kostrzewa. “He has a keen insight on operations as well as editorial and business strategy, complemented by a clear passion for wine, spirits, beer and cider. “

This past year, Peartree has acquired the tasting beats of his home state of New York, as well as selected regions of Italy, including Abruzzo, Molise, Puglia, Basilicata and Calabria. By utilizing his hands-on knowledge and understanding of the tasting process, Peartree will be guiding and managing the reviewers of the magazine, assuring that the ratings and reviews provided by each are unbiased, consistent and in accordance with the rigorous standards set forth by Wine Enthusiast. His past experience working in New York wine country as well as with the public relations team at The Winebow Group has added to his knowledge of the industry and will aid him in growing the reach of the magazine.

About the USA Wine Ratings Competition

USA Wine Ratings Logo

The USA Wine Ratings competition was introduced by Beverage Trade Network which organizes wine events worldwide. The competition aims to recognize, reward and promote wine brands that are created to identify with and target a specific wine drinker. The competition works on three major criteria; quality, packaging and value for money. For any brand to earn its space on a retailer’s shelf or a restaurant’s wine list, they must be marketable and consumer driven and not just produced in the general hope it can find enough people willing to sell and buy it. This approach of USA Wine Ratings makes the competition different from other wine competitions.
