Meet 2019’s Best Sauvignon Blanc from USA

USA’s Fathers + Daughters Cellar’s Sauvignon Blanc crowned 2019’s Best Sauvignon Blanc.

The United States’ Sauvignon Blanc by Fathers + Daughters Cellars seized the ‘Best in Show By Varietal’ title along with a Gold medal at the 2019 USA Wine Ratings held in San Francisco on 21 July.

With 13.8% ABV, 2019’s Best Sauvignon Blanc by Fathers + Daughters Cellars is a pale straw in color. The nose of this Sauvignon Blanc is wild and exotic arousing the memories of a spring field in full bloom - including the aromas of fresh honeydew melons, rose petal, pink grapefruit, and anise. Coming from 42-year-old vines, Fathers + Daughters Cellars’ Sauvignon Blanc is both earthy and fruity with the palate of blend spices, green fruits, and herbs. Cinnamon and fresh marjoram blend with lemon curd, cumquat, and crab-apple to evoke an exotic result. The mouthfeel of 2019’s Best Sauvignon Blanc from the United States is vibrant and marked by texture - with elements of rose petal, jalapeño and pine nuts found in the long finish.

The winemaker of 2019’s Best Sauvignon Blanc is Philip Baxter. Fathers + Daughters Cellars’ Sauvignon Blanc from the United States saw an early harvest in the early spring months of 2016. The weather was kind to the vines of 2019’s Best Sauvignon Blanc throughout. The temperatures remained constant with moderate heat all around the spring as well as summer. Therefore, the fruit was able to develop nice and gradually - leading to well-structured flavors. Although 2016 was included in the series of drought years, it actually stood to benefit the fruit as the clusters were small with intense flavor.

The United States’ Fathers + Daughters Cellars embarks on a multi-generational adventure, exploring three of the best things in life - fathers, daughters, and wine.

It was the birth of Guy Pacurar and Sarah Pacurar’s daughter, Ella in 2012 - that inspired the Pacurar family to create a label celebrating the special bond that exists between fathers and daughters. The ‘Fathers + Daughters Cellars’ journey began with the support and encouragement of Sarah’s father, Kurt Schoeneman - with the first harvest at 4:00 a.m. on September 7, 2012, with little Ella in the backpack. After that, the Fathers + Daughters Cellars has continued to grow.

“It is our hope that through our wine, we can share with you some of the magic of this very special appellation,” says Guy Pacurar
